In recent weeks with major failures in TECH, such as hacking, ransomware, crashing apps, loss of WiFi connection, breaches in privacy, outages, etc. Are we ready to turnover control to Artificial Intelligence? I say NO.
Everyone seems so excited with AI (the new HOT term these days on many mouths); but with some disastrous outcomes in Medicine alone, we need to tread cautiously.
We have seen this before with the emergency of “STEM CELL THERAPY” a few years ago when many jumped on board BEFORE it was really ready for clinical application. The launch of AI in medicine despite the promotion by several futurists and medical pundits seems dangerous to me.
An example of a big problem is the battlefield AI called Lavender used by the IDF. It allows for targeting the bad guys but allows for civilian casualties as acceptable collateral damage in the recent war in the Middle East.
For more on Lavender read this. The movie the Terminator was a foreshadowing of things that may be coming associated with AI in the battlefield.
AI may be beneficial to humanity, but it must be done so with extreme care and prudence. Folks like Elon Musk and many other warn of trouble if not done so carefully.
